After Capucine’s Vertices, let’s continue to go back in time… This time, may I present you asweater I knitted for Oscar…
End of May 2017, I presented you here the Sock Monkey sweater I had made for Oscar the previous winter. At the end of the article, I told you that I was planning to knit a new sweater the following summer (2017) to have it ready for the first frosty days of Fall…
Summer, then Fall went by and I still didn’t have knitted a new sweater for Oscar. Though the pattern was chosent and the yarn ready. It’s only in February (2019) that I casted on to knit the pattern Wyatt (from Michèle Wang, in the Brooklun Tweed’s BT Kidscollection) and I finished it only in May (the same year). I blame the sewing of the sleeves for fnishing it so late…
Once again, I used a yarn from De Rerum Natura, Giliatt in the colourway Baleine bleue, to be precise, because I love their yarns so much ! I used 2 vintage horn buttons. Only 2 because I had only 2 and because I knew the last button would never be closed because Oscar doesn’t like when the collar is to close to his neck/chin…
As I finished the sweater in May, considering the temperature last summer, it didn’t wore it last summer (obviously). But he didn’t wore this Fall nor this winter either ! He refuses to wear it because it feels itchy (for him) and it is too hot… He only wore it twice last week, when we were on vacations in the mountains. I need someone to explain too me why he accept to wear it when it is 15°C in the mountains and not at home when it is 0°C… I don’t understand the logic… Must be the altitude !?
As Spring is right around the corner, I suspect he won’t be wearing it anymore… Which makes me wonder and question if it’s worth knitting him a new sweater when I’m almost 100% positive he won’t wear it ? I think I will keep my focus (and time and yarn) to knit for people who appreciate it and who will wear my knits…
