A Vikkel braid in contrasting colour has the appearance of a chain stitch embroidered later on stockinette, but it is in fact worked at the same time as the row.
Step 0
Work the border stitch in main colour 5MC) as indicated in the pattern. Here, I knitted 3 stitch, but it can be anything…
Step 1 : Setting up
M1L increase with the contrasting colour (CC).
Slip the stitch (CC) back onto left needle.
Step 2
Make a 1/1 LC cable :
- work the 1st stitch (2nd on the left needle) in MC
- Work the 2nd stitch (1st stitch on the left needle) in CC
- drop the 2 stitches you have just worked from the left needle.
Step 3
Slip the last stitch (CC) on right needle back onto left needle.
Step 4
Repeat step 2 and 3 until you have reached your border stitches. Here, I’ve worked the vikkel braid to 3 stitches to end of row.
Step 5
Knit the next 2 stitches together in MC, then finish your row. Cut the CC yarn.
