Picot bind off is a decorative bind off technique. It is trully interesting to work it to emphasize the effect on some lace borders
Step 0
Locate where the picots will be placed.
in this example, the picots locations are shown by the arrows. They are 10 stitches apart.
Step 1
Bind off the stitches until you get to the location of the first picot.
To bind off between picot, you can use a classic knitwise bind off technique or a more elastic bind off (like the yarn over bind off) if you want to stretch the lace when blocking it.
Step 2
Cast on the stitches for the picot. The more stitches you cast on, the longer the picot will be.
In this example, I’m casting on 3 stitches.
Step 3
Bind off (knitwise) the picot stitches you just casted on. (Here, 3 stitches bound off).
Step 4
Bind off the stitches until you get to the next picot location.
To bind off between picot, you can use a classic knitwise bind off technique or a more elastic bind off (like the yarn over bind off) if you want to stretch the lace when blocking it.
In this example, I’m binding off 10 stitches between each picot.
Step 5
Repeat stepss 2, 3 and 4 until you have bound off all the stitches.
Pin the picots down when blocking the lace.
