Lifted increases (knitwise)

Right lifted increase

This increase creates a new stitch on the right of the stitch on the left needle, from a stitch of the row below.

It is called M1R lifted in my knitting patterns.

Work as indicated in the pattern until you reach the increase.

ALD (1)

Pass the tip of the right needle through the right strand of the stitch below the stitch on the left needle.

ALD (2)

Put this strand on the left needle.

ALD (3)

ALD (4)

Knit through this strand.

ALD (5)

ALD (6)

Knit the stitch on the left needle.

ALD (7)

Left lifted increase

This increase creates a new stitch on the left of the stitch on the left needle, from a stitch of the row below.

It is called M1L lifted in my knitting patterns.

Work as indicated in the pattern until you reach the increase.

ALG (1)

Knit the stitch on the left needle.

ALG (2)

Going behind your work, pass the tip of the left needle in the left strand of the stitch 2 rows belo the stitch on your right needle.

Knit this strand through back loop.
